Looking for a tattoo removal service, or an overall redo? You’re in the right place. Keep reading to discover the basics of glycolic acid tattoo removal, what to expect at your service, and the best aftercare for a cosmetic tattoo removal!

What is a glycolic Acid cosmetic tattoo removal treatment?

Glycolic acid is the perfect solution for unwanted, old, or blue-tinted brow tattoos. Modern cosmetic tattoo techniques use an organic ink that fades naturally, but tattoos over five years old commonly experience blue fading due to the ink used at the start of cosmetic tattooing popularity- making this a common removal strategy for too-dark or overly lined brows.

Glycolic acid tattoo removal is preferred by those who have sensitive skin and want to minimize the risk of scarring. Unlike laser tattoo removal, glycolic acid is relatively painless and does not require extreme protection from the elements or coverage during the healing process. Additionally, glycolic acid involves a pigment-free microblading application rather than a direct injection used in saline removal, which is not an advised practice.

The glycolic acid removal process involves between 2-6 sessions based on your skin type and the pigmentation being removed. At your session, our certified tattoo removal expert Madisen Gunter will begin to transform your brows by carefully tattooing the solution over your unwanted ink.

Schedule your follow-up cosmetic tattoo removal appointments for 6 weeks after each treatment. Your skin needs time to heal and allow the ink from every session to expel from your skin.

Cosmetic Tattoo Removal Aftercare

After leaving your first costmetic tattoo removal session, you’ll notice excess fluid rise to the surface of your brows. About 5-7 hours following your service, use cotton pads to clean your brows.

As with most tattoo removal treatments, expect scabbing immediately following your session. This is necessary in the process of healing your skin, allowing the ink to be drawn out even after your service ends. Do not pick scabs- this can lead to infection and scarring!

If brows become extremely dry, A&D can be applied once- however, avoid applying lotion as the drying process is crucial in healing your skin.

Following your appointment, avoid long showers and hot steam (for more than 15 minutes) in the first 7 days.

Also avoid self tanning, sun exposure, makeup over brows, fitness/excessive sweating, swimming and facial treatments.

Time to have the brows of your dreams!

Whether you changed your mind about a cosmetic tattoo or used a tattooer that is not certified in permanent makeup, glycolic acid tattoo removal can be your confidence-boosting solution. After the skin is fully healed, our certified cosmetic tattoo professional Madisen can curate your dream brows, from ombre powder brows to microblading and even combo brows!
